JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: General Manager
DEPARTMENT/BRANCH: Madison, WI. Branch
REPORTS TO: COO/VP of OPS
STATUS/FLSA: Exempt
JOB PURPOSE:
Oversee management of all local branch departments, including sales. Direct activities so that product and materials are delivered on schedule, within quality standards, and cost objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist company officers and senior staff members in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, programs, and objectives.
Develop the branch operations plan and implement procedures to maintain high operational standards, including food safety policies and procedures, to ensure that products and materials conform to established customer and company quality standards.
Direct and monitor department managers to accomplish the goals of the operations plan consistent with the established distribution and safety procedures.
Manage the local sales force and hold them accountable to the processes and procedures defined by sales management.
Full responsibility for the branch P & L
Achieve optimum employee levels with the least amount of overhead and cost to the annual budgetary plan; formulate and recommend distribution policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
Hire, train, develop, and evaluate staff. Initiate corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy while communicating and involving the appropriate company personnel.
Communicate/collaborate effectively and professionally with co-workers and customers, both internal and external.
Responsible for supporting all established food safety practices at their designated branch locations.
Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Administration plus 10 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Provide prompt, courteous, and excellent service to all customers, internal and external. Actively cooperate and interact with all entities of the company.
A well-organized and self-directed individual with the ability to relate to people at all levels of the organization.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced and rapidly growing distribution environment.
Advanced knowledge of the procurement system and basic knowledge of company products are required
Employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
Must have excellent time management skills, planning and organizational skills, problem-solving, and oral/written communication skills.
Must have basic persuasion and negotiation skills with the ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
General math and computer skills required; knowledge of the industry-specific application, Visual Produce, is desired.
