Journeyman Electrician – Residential Project Manager
Our client is a family owned electrical contractor, specializing in projects at luxury homes and estates in the Flathead Valley (Kalispell, MT) area. We are seeking a high-caliber Journeyman Electrician/Project Manager to manage and complete premier residential projects.
Job Summary:
This is a dual-capacity role designed for a professional who is as comfortable in the field as they are in a client meeting. You will be the primary point of contact for high-end custom home builds, responsible for ensuring that complex electrical systems, including automation and architectural lighting—are executed with "white-glove" precision. You will manage the project lifecycle from initial walk-through to final punch-list, leading a small crew while remaining hands-on with critical installations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead on-site teams in the installation of complex residential systems; perform "high-finish" tasks such as luxury fixture installation and smart-home integration.
- Hands-on wiring, termination and programming of Category 6 (Cat6), coax, and fiber optic cabling for integrated whole-home audio, security, and Wi-Fi networks.
- Precision mounting and commissioning of custom lighting, chandeliers, and automated shades.
- Installation and maintenance of whole-home backup systems, including automatic transfer switches (ATS), standby generators, and battery storage solutions
- Manage project timelines, labor hours, and material procurement to ensure jobs remain on schedule and under budget.
- Attend weekly site meetings and communicate technical needs clearly.
- Conduct rigorous inspections to ensure every wire and device meets both NEC code and our internal standards for custom homes.
- Track change orders, update "as-built" drawings, and manage RFI (Request for Information) processes using project management software.
Requirements:
- Licensing: Valid Montana Journeyman Electrician License
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in the electrical trade, with at least 2 years within the high-end custom residential sector.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Familiarity with lighting control systems (e.g., Lutron, Control4, or Savant).
- Ability to read and interpret complex architectural blueprints and schematics.
- Soft Skills: A professional appearance and excellent verbal communication skills; ability to remain cool under pressure; ability to maintain confidentiality with high profile clients
